Adora Turnsplenty

Adora Ann Old Crow Turnsplenty passed away peacefully surrounded by the presence of God, family & friends on June 8, 2025. She was a wife, a daughter, a sister, a mom, a grandma and a friend who meant the world to us and to so many others. She was born on October 16, 1957 in Crow Agency, MT to Ross Gordon Old Crow & Kathryn Stops Old Crow.  Her Apsaalooke name is “Shining Cross” given to her by her clan aunt, Mabel Pretty On Top. 

She was a member of the Greasy Mouth clan and child of the Big Lodge clan. Adora grew up in Lodge Grass area, attended schools in Lodge Grass and later received her G.E.D.   Her occupation was a mother first, then she received her certification as a C.N.A. where she was an in-home care provider providing personal care, medical support, and household assistance to individuals in their homes in Billings MT.  This greatly benefited with helping her dad and sister Starla whom she provided care during the length of their illnesses.  She was later employed by the Pryor Public Schools as the high school secretary for 12 years until she became a caregiver for her husband until the end of his life. When she was 16 years old, she was swept away from Lodge Grass to Pryor by the love of her life, Aaron “AJ” Turnsplenty, Sr and on September 6, 1975 they married and made their home in Pryor, MT.  Together they had 5 children;

Adora was a devout Christian and a strong believer in her Lord Jesus Christ.   She loved the game of softball and enjoyed playing on CO-ED & women's softball teams, you could find Adora and AJ at the soft ball fields during the summer season.  She loved camping at Crow Fair, enjoyed watching the powwows & rodeo where she once participated in barrel racing and pole bending and was a Lodge Grass district rodeo princess. She especially loved watching her grandkids and great grandkids kids grow into beautiful people.

Adora was predeceased by her paternal grandparents; Simon and Anna Plenty Good-Old Crow, maternal grandparents; Clark Stops and Fannie Other Black Bird, father; Ross, her husband AJ; and her siblings, Starla Sue Old Crow-Fitzpatrick and Nathan Neal Old Crow. Nephews Dylan Tanner Black Eagle, Shawn North Piegan, Niece, Deonna Old Crow, Stephanie Pretty Weasel.  Her aunts; Joy (Paul) Old Crow-Matt, Violet (Harold) Enick, Nadine Rides Horse, Pam (Alvin) Little Light, Sheila Rides Horse, her uncles Newton Old Crow, Sr., Francis (Bertha) Bear Claw, Dorothy Old Crow-Bird, Richard Old Crow, Edmund (Mildred) Old Crow, Amanda (Warren) Old Crow-Alden, Suzanna (Bob) Old Crow-One Bear, Aline (Buckley) Old Crow-Pretty On Top. Her in laws: parents, Ralph, Sr. and Rose DeCrane Turnsplenty, brothers, Ralph “Sammy”, David, Chester, Vernie and Wayne Turnsplenty, Marvin Cottontail, Grant Buckshot Stewart, Dione Bellrock and Father Charles Robinson, Sylvia Gone, Charlene Laverdure, Priscine Nez Perce, Verna Turnsplenty, Marvella Stewart, Peter Turnsplenty, Rosina Turnsplenty and Brandon Longhair.

She is survived by her mother Kathryn Stops- Old Crow, her sons, Aaron Ross (Roberta), Timothy Chance, Seth James (Emory), Darrell Clark (Tasheena) and her daughter Angie Rose. 

Her adopted children (and grandchildren): Tyrell, Alvin, Aminna, Kayle & Louie.   Adora also raised her brother Nathan’s children; Courtney (Joey) Gutierrez, Cody & Cara and Corey Old Crow.  She adopted Ralph & Julie Lavedure, Rosabeth (Cotton) Turnsplenty Realbird, Leon Turnsplenty, Teresa (Brett) Turnsplenty, Jovonne Decrane, Latisha Lefthand & Antone Lopez.

Her Grandchildren: Alvin (Latisha), Robert, Kayle, Louie, Chasten, Aaren Rain Turnsplenty, Alejandro Sanchez. Tyrell (Kylie), Aminna, Tarinia, DrewConstance, Robriya, Buster, Robin Littlelight. Riley and Adrick Tinsley Old Crow.  Dontez, Pariz, Levi, Faith & Kron Gutierrez & Sara Juneau

Visitations will be held at 12pm-4pm on Tuesday June 10, 2025 and Wednesday June 11, 2025, and at 4pm-6pm on Thursday June 12, 2025 at Dahl Funeral Chapel. A Vigil will be held at 6pm-8pm on Thursday June 12, 2025 at Dahl Funeral Chapel. A Funeral Service will be held at 11am on Friday June 13, 2025 at Plenty Coups High School.
